Mary J. Blige Dishes On Her 'Crazy' Led Zeppelin Covers

'I've listened to their music since I was a child,' says the R&B diva, who recorded 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love.'

You wouldn't peg Mary J Blige as the black-light-and-tapestry sort, but, as has become readily apparent in recent weeks, she absolutely loves Led Zeppelin.

In early February, reports began circulating that Blige had re-recorded Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven," working with Travis Barker, "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai on the track, which is slated to appear on the international reissue of her Stronger With Each Tear album, due Monday.

But after she had recorded "Stairway," Blige continued to get the Led out, covering another Zeppelin classic — the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love" — for the album too. And when MTV News caught up with her on the Essence Black Women in Hollywood red carpet, she told us all about channeling her inner Robert Plant for the tracks, a process that came much easier than you'd probably imagine.

"I did Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love' — it's crazy," she said. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun."

Blige also said she recorded another new song — a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" — for the re-release. And while it's only slated to hit shelves outside the U.S., she hopes her fans will get a chance to hear all the new songs pretty soon.

"I want y'all to hear it," she laughed.

Beyonce No Longer Managed By Father, Mathew Knowles

'I've only parted ways with my father on a business level,' singer says.

Artists cut ties with managers all the time. But when your shot-caller is your dad and he's helped you climb the ladder of fame to the very top, things can be a bit trickier.

After years of rumors, Beyoncé confirmed on Monday that she is parting ways with the man who helped make her an international pop diva: dad Mathew Knowles. According to CNN, the split was amicable and both sides said it was a mutual decision. "I've only parted ways with my father on a business level," Beyoncé, 29, said in a statement released on Monday. "He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me ... I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their own businesses. They were hardworking entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps."

Mathew Knowles began managing Beyoncé's career when she was a teenager and shepherded her through her mega-success with Destiny's Child in the late 1990s and into her even bigger career as a solo artist, which has garnered her 16 Grammy Awards and millions in sales for her three post-DC albums. Her mother, Tina, is Beyoncé's stylist and is heavily involved in their clothing line, House of Dereon.

"The decision for Beyoncé and Music World Entertainment to part was mutual," Mathew Knowles said in a separate statement also released on Monday. "We did great things together, and I know that she will continue to conquer new territories in music and entertainment."

It was not announced who would take over management duties for Beyoncé, but Knowles said his record label would instead focus on gospel and inspirational artists. "Business is business and family is family," Knowles continued. "I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all that she has achieved. I look forward to her continued great success."

Among the artists who are listed on the Music World Entertainment site are Juanita Bynum, From Above, Pastor Rudy, the Bamaz, Beyoncé's younger sister, Solange, and Trin-I-Tee 5:7. Knowles also used to manage former Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, but they parted ways with him, respectively, in 2009 and 2010.

Mathew and Tina Knowles divorced in 2009 after 29 years of marriage. Beyoncé is reportedly close to finishing work on the follow-up to 2008's I Am ... Sasha Fierce, which could include contributions from Sia and Sleigh Bells, along with Ne-Yo, S1, Jim Jonsin, Sean "The Pen" Garrett, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart.

Lady Gaga's 'Judas': Fans Weigh In!

Gaga's Little Monsters declare the track 'genius' and 'hardcore.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images

Lady Gaga gave her fans a treat for the weekend when she dropped her new single "Judas" days earlier than the previously announced April 19 release date. Right after the RedOne-produced song dropped, Gaga tweeted about the single, the second from Born This Way, due May 23.

"Even After Three Times He Betrays Me," she wrote, harking back to the song's lyrics about love and betrayal. "THE REAL JUDAS: HE'S EVERYWHERE, NOW. DON'T STOP UNTIL HE'S YOURS," she added.

She also tweeted art for the song: In bright-red font, the word "Judas" appears in all caps, above a red cross with a heart in the middle. The art was teased in an installment of Gagavision earlier this week.

Shortly after the song was released, fans immediately reacted to the genre-defying track that mixes dance, metal and even reggae. "I've listened to it at least 20 times already...can't get enough....going 2 b another number one for sure! PAWS UP!" SHforlife commented on MTV News' article about the song's release. "This song is legit...beat is fn hardcore to the max...genius..."

"I've listened to it just once so far. I know that just like 'Born This Way,' the more I listen to it, the more I like it!! Great song. I hope it still debuts pretty high atop the Hot 100 even though there was virtually no hype for this like there was for BTW!" Kyle noted. "It kinda just came out of no where! Could be a good thing though!"

There have been some detractors, including critics who think "Judas" sounds too much like "Born This Way," but the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Chifi55 called it "revolutionary, breathtaking... Gaga is changing music history and no one can stop her!!"

Many of Gaga's Little Monsters have simply dubbed the song "amazing" and "awesome," while many have been able to articulate what it is about the song they love so much. "JUDAS!!!!!!!.....Lady Gaga the cultural baptist!!!!!!!!!!!" Rohit Little commented. "I'm in love with JESUS for making GAGA for making JUDAS for giving me eargasms!!!!"

What do you think of "Judas"? Let us know in the comments!

'Glee' Is Back: How Did Heather Morris Spend Her Break?

She and roomie Ashley Lendzion team up on short-film projects, like 'The Elevator' and Funny or Die's 'Nuthin' but a 'Glee' Thang.'
By Kara Warner

For those of you eagerly awaiting Tuesday night's (April 19) "Glee" return, MTV News has a special treat to tide you over. Think of it as an appetizer, if you will, featuring the one and only Heather Morris (a.k.a. Brittany S. Pierce) and her roommate/ fellow actress/ filmmaking partner Ashley Lendzion.

In their spare time, the two ladies have been hard at work on their own film projects, including the most excellent "Nuthin' but a 'Glee' Thang" video for Funny or Die (which they wrote themselves), as well as two short films, "The Elevator," and the upcoming "Andy Made a Friend."

MTV News was lucky enough to catch up with Morris and Lendzion recently to find out more about their cinematic endeavors and, as you'll see in the accompanying video, the results of our chat were both informative and hilarious.

"We met in acting school, at Playhouse West in North Hollywood," Lendzion revealed.

"We met in class together, and we were both excited about writing and doing things," Morris added.

The ladies explained that they were particularly inspired by Michael Cera and Charlyne Yi's movie "Paper Heart" and decided the night after seeing it that they should be making their own films, too, the first of which was Morris' directorial debut, "The Elevator."

" 'The Elevator' is a short film about this guy Nate. He is scared of elevators, and he sees this girl one day [played by Morris] and he keeps seeing her on the elevator, and he can't seem to find her anywhere else," Lendzion said. "His attention is shifted towards her because her cell phone ringtone is his go-to karaoke song. He doesn't know what to do, and he recruits the help of his crazy roommate, Louise, played by me, she tries to coax him through and get him on an elevator."

In describing their writing process, the ladies joked that their ideas come from the same place.

"She's the brains," Morris said of Lendzion, adding, "We share a brain. It works out."

Morris and Lendzion then playfully demonstrated their brainstorming "process" for us, which included drawing pictures and yelling out random ideas back and forth.

"With writing, we were just bouncing [ideas off each other]," Morris said.

"We knew exactly the story we wanted to go with, so that was really easy to write," Lendzion said of "The Elevator." "Which is awesome, because that can be hard, writing with someone else."

"The Elevator" is making the festival rounds, but for those who want to see more of the film, you can visit Lendzion's website and YouTube channel, as well as the short film's Facebook page.

What do you think of Heather and Ashley's creative collabos? Let us know in the comments!

Robert Pattinson Says End Of 'Breaking Dawn' Shoot Was 'An Anticlimax'

'By the end of it, I think everyone was just like, 'Ahhh, get me out!' he says on 'Regis and Kelly.'
By Eric Ditzian

Photo: ABC

More than three years after he first stepped in front of the cameras as a golden-eyed vampire, Robert Pattinson wrapped production late last week on the "Twilight" franchise following the completion of the two parts of "Breaking Dawn." So what did the cast and crew do to celebrate the end of a series that has thus far grossed almost $1.8 billion worldwide? Not much at all, it turns out.

"It was a bit of an anticlimax. I finished on a night shoot and then flew right here," Pattinson said Monday (April 18) morning on "Live! With Regis and Kelly." "It was a very long shoot and we were working on it for eight months and it was hard. By the end of it, I think everyone was just like, 'Ahhh, get me out!' "

RPattz departed the British Columbia set and headed to New York for Sunday's red-carpet premiere of "Water for Elephants," his upcoming romantic drama co-starring Reese Witherspoon. That's where MTV News caught up with both stars, during a live-stream interview outside the Ziegfeld Theatre. The next morning, Pattinson was up early and making the talk-show rounds, first on "Today" and then on "Regis and Kelly," where guest host Seth Meyers not only asked the actor about his films but wondered if he'd ever appear on "Saturday Night Live."

"It's terrifying. I couldn't imagine," Pattinson laughed, adding that he doesn't consider himself funny. That sentiment jibes with what RPattz has previously told us about hosting the sketch comedy show. So despite online petitions and on-air pleas from "SNL" castmembers themselves, it doesn't seem likely that Pattinson is going to take on hosting duties anytime soon.

But you never know what's in store for the guy now that his vampire franchise has come to a close. Even Pattinson joked that he's got no idea what his future holds. "I don't know who I am anymore," he cracked. "I still haven't really understood what it is not to be doing 'Twilight' movies every three months."

Check out everything we've got on "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" and "Water for Elephants."

Michael Jackson Estate Rakes In $310 Million To Date

Singer left behind more than $400 million in debt.

Between album sales, movie profits, licensing arrangements and lucrative deals for Cirque du Soleil shows, the estate of late King of Pop Michael Jackson has raked in more than $300 million since the singer's shocking death in June 2009.

According to TMZ, legal documents released on Thursday reveal that executors of MJ's estate have managed to make a major dent in the more than $400 million in debt that Jackson owed at the time of his death.

The first accounting from the executors shows that they have already spent around $159 million paying back various debts, income taxes and other expenses, which include providing support for the pop star's mother, Katherine Jackson, as well as his three young children.

"Although there remain unresolved creditor claims, pending litigation and additional challenging business, tax and legal issues, and the estate is not yet in a condition to be closed, the executors have made substantial progress in reducing the estate's debt," the documents state, according to a Reuters report. Two of Jackson's longtime confidants, attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain, were named as administrators in a will sign by the pop icon.

In addition to paying to make "substantial improvements" to the Jackson family's Havenhurst estate in Encino, California, the executors also spent an undetermined amount of money on "last illness and funeral and memorial service expenses." Those costs included a $900,000 payment to the Forest Lawn Memorial cemetery where Jackson is buried and $35,000 on expenses described as "costume for memorial."

TMZ reported that not only did the famously cash-strapped Jackson have more than $400 million in debt, but his estate also owed more than $40 million to concert promoter AEG tied to the scuttled This Is It Tour, for which MJ was rehearsing when he died unexpectedly. They've also paid $27.2 million in taxes and $4 million in mortgage payments on Jackson's properties.

Despite the solid sales of the Michael album and millions of units of the singer's back catalog being sold, as well as the box office of the "This Is It" movie and DVD sales, the estate is not nearly out of the woods. TMZ noted that the administrators have received more than 65 creditors' claims, some of which are subject to "extremely high" interest rates, and there are several outstanding lawsuits against the estate in several countries.

Usher, Ke$ha And More Help Dance Music Go Pop In 2010

But is it here to stay? Our music-industry experts weigh in.
By Akshay Bhansali

Ke$ha
Photo: Andreas Rentz/ Getty Images

In 2010, pop princesses, R&B icons and chart-dominating newcomers all danced to the same beat. Not only did dance music go pop, but pop music caught the club-music bug.

Between Katy Perry's "Firework," Ke$ha's "We R Who We R," Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)," Enrique Iglesias' "I Like It," Usher's "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" and "OMG" and countless other singles, established artists definitely looked to dance beats for surefire hits. And two of this year's biggest success stories in music were Jason Derülo and Taio Cruz; could there be a soul left in this country who hasn't heard "Dynamite" or "In My Head"?

The love went both ways, with dance music's biggest stars finding mainstream success this year. Dance-music maestro deadmau5 took up house-artist duties at this year's VMAs, and Swedish House Mafia and Usher teamed up for a medley of their gems at the American Music Awards.

So how did this happen? We caught up with some music-industry experts to get their takes.

"You definitely saw tempos go up this year," Jon Caramanica of The New York Times told MTV News. "And I think what you had are a lot of producers who are really familiar with nightclub stuff. They are familiar with Europe. Things are happening on a more global scale now."

"I think everything from Europe, and sometimes even Asia, it comes to America, and we just adopt things a little bit slower," said Jared Eng of JustJared.com. "I think it was just a change. People like different types of music at different times. And dance was of this moment."

Noah Callahan of Complex magazine added: "I think 2010 saw the merging of the pop and dance genres. Pop artists realized that there were best practices that could be borrowed from dance music. And, ultimately, [all] pop music that has been made in the past 20 years had ended up being remixed for the club by dance artists. I think they basically just cut out the middleman and went straight there."

Dance music being introduced into the hip-hop and R&B realms was particularly notable this year.

"I think David Guetta kind of at the end of last year and the beginning of this year spearheaded it," said freelance writer Julianne Escobedo Shepherd. "He produced a lot of tracks. I think as trends go, people revile 'unst-unst.' But it's just coming back around. Big-room techno was a way for people to get decadent in a year that no one could get decadent."

"You have someone like will.i.am, who's like, 'Well, I spent all this time in Ibiza, and this is what they are doing,' and he wants to find a way to bring that into his music," Caramanica said of the Black Eyed Peas mastermind. "R&B especially became dance music. And especially with your Jason Derülos, Taio Cruzes. Guys like that would have literally been blocked at the border two years ago. That would not have made it through customs. And now all of a sudden they have #1 songs. I think will.i.am had a lot to do with that last year."

Elliott Wilson of RapRadar.com added: "It's actually even affected hip-hop. I was talking to Q-Tip, and his next record, I feel like that's gonna kind of go in that vein. I know that was also Jay-Z's thought process with Blueprint 3 at first, that he wanted to make a little bit more of a world music [vibe], a little more dancey. I think the kids today want to go to the clubs. They wanna have a good time. They wanna dance. So I think the artists of today are trying to kind of feed that audience."

"I think it's caught on this year because the people who've done it have been successful," offered Clover Hope of Vibe magazine. "Like 'OMG,' with usher, he didn't have success until he made a dance record. He had 'There Goes My Baby' and these really, like, adult-contemporary records that didn't really catch on. And then once you see that everybody is doing it and that people are liking it, they are like, 'OK, let me just try this out.' It's like Auto-Tune. Like, 'Let me see what I sound like on a record by David Guetta.' They end up liking it and doing more of it."

So does the club-music trend have staying power. According to our tastemakers, not so much.

"I do think it's a blip," Caramanica said. "I don't think that's gonna be something that lasts in America. I think this is gonna be a moment we'll all look back on and go, 'Wasn't that weird when Jason Derülo and Taio Cruz had #1 records?"

"At some point, these R&B artists will get kind of sick of it and be like, 'Let me go back to my soul background,' " Hope said. "When you actually have to say something, dance doesn't really lend itself to substance. And I think that R&B artists, they really want to talk about love and in a deep way, and to do that, you need to do, like, a soul or a traditional R&B record. I want to say that it's kind of a fad."

"I think music is very cyclical," Eng offered. "So I think dance music might be here for a little bit, but I'm sure it will phase out at some point."

Wilson called dance music "the sound of today. I think that people want more aggressive, faster beats, and I think that that probably has legs until at least next summer."

What do you think? Is dance music here to stay? Let us know in the comments!

'Rio': The Reviews Are In!

Critics swoon over CG animation so colorful it 'glows' in this Brazilian bird tale voiced by Jesse Eisenberg, will.i.am and others
By Eric Ditzian

"Rio"
Photo: 20th Century Fox

If "Hop" has proved anything with its two straight weekends at the top of the box office (including a $37.5 million debut), it's that animated fare is so often review-proof. The Russell Brand-starring tale about the Easter Bunny has owned the multiplex all this month despite being a critical dud.

Now comes "Rio," a film that not only has been garnering stellar reviews but is dropping into theaters as spring vacations unleash students from schools around the country. Is it any surprise, then, that some box-office prognosticators are suggesting the 3-D flick could gross as much as $50 million in its opening weekend?

Critics have been lauding the film's eye-popping visuals, winning musical numbers and memorable cast of supporting characters. The only criticisms, it seems, are that "Rio" perhaps jams too much wackiness into its 96-minute running time. For those assessments and more, read on for what the critics are saying about the movie.

The Story
"The opening musical number, featuring the exotic birds of Brazil in choreographed flight, is splashy enough to be promising. The CG animation is so colorful it just about glows. And it certainly seems a great idea to have Jesse Eisenberg, with his nerdy-hiccupy eagerness, voice the animated hero, a macaw named Blu who got poached from his native South American rain forest and has grown up as the companion of Linda (Leslie Mann), a Minnesota bookstore owner. The perfectly sturdy bird-out-of-water setup has Blu being taken back down to Rio by ornithologists so that he can mate with Jewel (Anne Hathaway), a gorgeous female macaw. They're the last two adults of the species. Once there, of course, he must learn how to be a wild bird: how to fly and fall in love." — Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

The Performances
"Eisenberg's tremulous voice is just right for Blu, giving him a neurotic, urban, understated wit. 'You know how people say, "It's a jungle out there?" ' he complains to Jewel when they find themselves in the middle of a rain forest. 'Not a good thing.' He gets strong support from Tracy Morgan as a bulldog, George Lopez as a toucan, and will.i.am and Jamie Foxx as friendly birds. But the star of the show in every respect is a cockatoo named Nigel (Jemaine Clement of HBO's 'Flight of the Conchords'), one of the most masterfully animated characters in movie history." — Nell Minow, Chicago Sun-Times

The Looks and the Sounds
"Produced by the team responsible for 'Ice Age,' the far more colorful 'Rio' bursts with the native beauty of Brazil, from the taut tushies on Ipanema to the familiar sights of Corcovado and Rio's cramped favelas. Composers John Powell and the great Sergio Mendes take their cues from samba and Antonio Carlos Jobim to create a musical backdrop every bit as evocative as the dazzling visuals, which exploit the flora, fauna and distinctively built environment for all their jewel-toned riches." — Ann Hornaday, The Washington Post

The Dissenters
"Too many supporting characters of too little comic distinction compete for our attention in 'Rio,' including a pack of martial-arts-trained marmosets designed to give the penguins of 'Madagascar' some spinoff competition. The movie isn't dull, exactly; the problem lies in the other, antsy direction. Culminating in a melee taking place during the annual celebration of Carnaval, the movie makes it difficult to enjoy its party vibe. Serial kidnappings have a way of harshing the tropical mellow." — Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune

The Final Word
" 'Rio' is such a delight, so much better than anything we've seen in animated form this year, that you won't mind the 3-D premium prices, you won't hate that your children want to watch the Blu-ray over and over again when it comes out on video, and won't dread the compulsion they'll feel to do sequels — lots and lots of sequels — and probably spoil it as they do." — Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel

Beyonce's New Single, 'Girls (Who Run The World),' Leaks Online

A demo version of the girl-power track hit the Net late Monday.
By Jocelyn Vena

A version of Beyoncé's forthcoming single "Girls (Who Run the World)" has hit the Internet, and as you might guess from the title, it's a thumping girl-power anthem. It samples Major Lazer's "Pon de Floor" and serves as B's lead single off her forthcoming new album, set for release later this year.

A rep for the singer had not returned MTV News' request for comment regarding the leaked track or the final version's release date as of press time.

The song opens with a keyboard and a heavy club beat as Beyoncé chants, "Girls!/ We run this mutha/ Girls!/ Who run the world." The club banger delivers on what Beyoncé has teased about the album: "I'm mixing every type of genre that I love and I'm inspired by every type of genre. ... I'm not in a box. It's not R&B. It's not typically pop. It's not rock. It's just everything I love all mixed together in my own little gumbo of music."

Beyoncé sings in her signature staccato style on the track. "It's hot up in here/ DJ don't be scared to run this, run this back/ I'm repping for the girls who taking over the world/ Have me raise a glass for the college grads," she sings.

"Boy you know you love it/ How we're smart enough to make these millions/ Strong enough to bear the children/ Then get back to business/ See, you better not play me/ Don't come here, baby/ Hope you still like me/ If you hate me," she goes on to declare. "My persuasion can build a nation/ In this hour/ Our love we can devour/ You'll do anything for me." Her vocals fade out as the song closes. But the song's message is clear.

"It'll be big. It'll probably be one of the bigger Beyoncé music videos ever done," director Francis Lawrence said of the video for the song. "And I can say that I think the song is unbelievable." He added, "It is a fantastic song, so I really hope that song catches for her, and I think the video's gonna be really fun and cool and different for her."

Rebecca Black's 'Friday' Beats Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga On YouTube

'Friday' has had 100 million views to date, with Black currently working on her second single, 'LOL.'
By Gil Kaufman

Rebecca Black in her video for "Friday"
Photo: Ark Music Factory

There was a minute there when Rebecca Black's "Friday" video was, almost literally, inescapable. Whether the success of the viral hit was being covered on such unlikely outlets as CNN or NPR, getting parodied on late-night television, or just bouncing around from Twitter accounts to e-mail in-boxes and music blogs, the tune by the previously unknown 13-year-old had the kind of white-hot media buzz usually reserved for a Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber.

Well, guess what? The little $2,000 pay-to-play ditty-that-could can now claim to have surpassed such major label juggernauts as Bieber and Gaga. According to a Reuters report, the no-budget clip for Black's song has been viewed more than 100 million times on YouTube since it was released on February 10, surpassing the totals for Gaga's "Born This Way" and Bieber's "Pray" videos, based on numbers provided by Visible Measures, a company that tracks the performance of Web videos.

Scratch that. If you count spoofs, other versions and home-brewed takes on the song, it's actually been seen more than 200 million times. Crunching the same numbers for "Born This Way," it has generated 180 million online views, while "Pray" has racked up 65 million.

It doesn't seem as though Gaga minds the competition from the Ark Music Factory product, as she reportedly referred to "Friday" as "genius" recently. Black told us she "freaked out" when she heard the compliment from Mother Monster. "I'm 13 and I never thought Lady Gaga would even know my name. I'm the kind of girl that dances to Lady Gaga with a hairbrush in her room at night," Black told MTV News in late March before she notched her YouTube record.

Black is reportedly at work on her second single, "LOL," though a release date for that song has not yet been announced.

Daniel Radcliffe Admires Lady Gaga's 'Outspoken' Gay Rights Advocacy

'Deathly Hallows' star tells MTV News, 'She has a slightly more flamboyant way of putting her point across.'

"Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe has been one of the most active celebrities showing their support for the LGBT community, and his continued efforts on behalf of the Trevor Project has earned him a Hero Award. MTV News caught up with Radcliffe recently and talk turned to his affiliation with the gay rights/ civil liberties causes, so we asked if he'd ever come into contact with another passionate supporter: Lady Gaga. His response wasn't quite what was expected.

"No, never, although my mom and dad, bizarrely, went to her concert," Radcliffe said with a laugh. "Like, my parents at a Lady Gaga concert, which I just think is the coolest, oddest thing ... they're ahead of me on most things pop culture."

Although Radcliffe has never met the colorful pop star, he said her advocacy for the gay community is something he's happy to be associated with. Gaga memorably joined in the National Equality March at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and vocalized her support for human rights at the 2009 and 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

Radcliffe said he can relate to Gaga's style of advocacy, even if he thinks his more subdued form of campaigning works much better for him.

"She's very outspoken as well, and it's just about being who you were born as. It's wonderful that other people are coming out from all different spectrums," he said. "I mean, she has a slightly more flamboyant way of putting her point across than I would, and it suits her a lot better than it would me. But we're both aiming for the same thing. But, no, I've never met her."

Last year, we talked to Radcliffe about his relationship with the Trevor Project. He said, "It's something I've always been quite passionate about. Because I grew up around gay men, it was always a natural thing to me. It was never something I ever gave a second thought to."

The Trevor Project's help line is a free and confidential service that offers help 24/7. The trained counselors are always available at (866) 4-U-TREVOR (488-7386) or visit their website, TheTrevorProject.org.

Justin Bieber Vintage Video: His First Meeting With Usher

Justin Timberlake also wanted to sign Bieber, 'Never Say Never' star said in 2009.

Just as the world was learning who Justin Bieber was, MTV News caught up with the shaggy-haired singer in September 2009. He was gearing up to release his debut album, My World, and plotting his pop-world domination. In the year and a half since that interview, Bieber has done the nearly impossible, launching himself into the pop mega-sphere.

In the chat, Bieber recalled how he and his manager, Scooter Braun, met and eventually got big names interested in signing the teen.

"My manager found me on YouTube. He flew me out to Atlanta for the first time — I'd never actually been on a plane before. He flew me to Atlanta where i was going to the studio to meet some people," he recalled.

"And Usher happened to roll up in his Range Rover. I ran up to him, and I was like, 'Usher, I love your songs. Want me to sing you one?' The politest possible way he could say no, he did. ... I took the hint. I didn't get to sing for him: He had to run into a studio session."

But later, Usher was beckoning the teen back to the ATL. "He actually watched my videos — after my manager got to talking to him — and was like, 'I should have let this kid sing,' and flew me back to Atlanta where I got to sing for him in a proper setting. A week later, I had a meeting with Justin Timberlake, who also wanted to sign me, so they both kind of wanted me."

As the story goes, Bieber went with Usher, and the two never looked back.

"As far as Usher being my mentor, he's definitely given me words of wisdom. I hear it from everybody, but definitely to hear it from Usher is great, just to stay humble and grounded is very important," he explained.

"There's a lot of people, especially young stars, that have gone down the wrong path, and I definitely plan to stay humble and stay grounded and keep my family first, because that stuff really is important in life."

On Friday, Justin Bieber's 3-D documentary, "Never Say Never," opens. The film takes a look at how the teen star worked to hit it big. MTV News has been chatting with him along the way, from the time he first burst on the scene in 2009 until now, as he embarks on a huge 2011 that will include a tour and more new music.

Taylor Lautner Is 'Close' With 'Breaking Dawn' Love Mackenzie Foy

'She's the cutest little girl, and she's so smart,' he tells MTV News of 10-year-old actress playing Renesmee.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Taylor Lautner is still pining away for Bella in "Breaking Dawn," but she's already made her decision to marry Edward instead of pursuing a life with Jacob.

But don't feel too bad for the werewolf. (Spoiler alert for those unfamiliar with the books!) He finds a new love in his own unique way when he imprints himself on Bella and Edward's infant vampire daughter, Renesmee. Lautner told MTV News during "MTV First: Taylor Lautner" last week that he and pre-teen Mackenzie Foy, who plays Renesmee in "Part 2," have become fast friends, despite the awkward circumstances.

"She's so awesome," he said of the 10-year-old. "She's the cutest little girl, and she's so smart, so on it and so talented. She's great. ... We're close."

The story not only touches on that romance, but also, finally, shows Bella and Edward on their romantic honeymoon (sexy photos of which were leaked earlier this month, much to the dismay of "Twilight" studio Summit Entertainment and Robert Pattinson). Lautner said he had some interesting inspiration when he was playing Jacob thinking about his former flame and rival married.

"It's like the story's always told from Bella, but when they're at the honeymoon, you'll be able to see me thinking about what they're doing on the honeymoon," he said. "Very awkward," he jokingly added.

"When we were filming that scene, I'm like, 'So, [director] Bill Condon, what am I thinking right now?' " he recalled of having on-set discussions about Jacob's story. "He's like, 'Just imagine what's going on in Brazil right now.' "

Check out everything we've got on "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1."

Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Suit Vs. AEG Can Proceed, Judge Rules

Katherine Jackson and family are pursuing a claim against concert promoter.
By Gil Kaufman

Michael Jackson

When he was alive, Michael Jackson was forever embroiled in a series of complex and expensive-sounding lawsuits. But even in death, the late King of Pop is the subject of major legal action. None could potentially be bigger than the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the pop icon's mother, Katherine Jackson, against concert promotion giant AEG Live.

Reuters reported that a Los Angeles judge ruled on Wednesday that the civil lawsuit can go forward. It will proceed in parallel with the criminal case against Jackson's physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, who has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with Jackson's June 2009 death from an overdose of the powerful surgical anesthetic propofol. Murray is the only person charged in Jackson's death and he is currently awaiting trial in that matter.

Katherine Jackson's lawsuit — filed in September on behalf of her and Jackson's three young children — accuses AEG of being responsible for the medical decisions made by Murray, whose salary was paid by the touring company behind Jackson's attempted "This Is It" comeback shows in London. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos denied a motion on Wednesday by AEG to dismiss Katherine Jackson's suit, but warned Jackson's attorneys that they would need to show evidence of "fraud, negligent infliction of emotional distress and civil conspiracy" in order to win the case.

The judge has already said she doubts they can prove the latter charge, because the suit does not detail any agreement between Murray and AEG to break the law in providing medical care to Jackson.

"If the object was to get him to rehearsals, I don't see that as a wrongful or illegal act," the judge said. A lawyer for AEG told the judge that the company could not have predicted beforehand that Murray's medical decisions would result in Jackson's death. Court papers also show that AEG "did not choose to hire Murray" and had only participated in negotiations to bring him on as an independent contractor. Michael, who had previously been treated by Murray in Las Vegas, was reportedly the one who suggested the cardiologist serve as his personal, on-call physician during the "This Is It" rehearsals and shows.

Katherine Jackson's attorney recently dropped choreographer Kenny Ortega from the lawsuit based on new information they received about his actions. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for March 22, just six days before Murray is due back in court for his trial. Jackson's father, Joseph, has twice attempted to file a wrongful death suit in the matter, though his is focused on Murray and the Las Vegas pharmacy that supplied the propofol, not AEG Live.

New Led Zeppelin On The Way? Jason Bonham Hints At 'Jam' Sessions With Jimmy Page -- But Not Robert Plant

Drummer admits he doesn't know what will come of 'new material.'
By Chris Harris

On Friday morning, mere hours before he was due to take the stage with classic rockers Foreigner at Detroit's GM Renaissance Center, drummer Jason Bonham — the son of late Led Zeppelin kitman John Bonham — told Jim Johnson and Lynne Woodison of local rock station 94.7 WCSX that he'd be an ex-member of Foreigner as of September 1. But that's not the only thing he said.

Much to the delight of Led Zeppelin fans everywhere, Bonham revealed that he's been meeting up with Led Zep guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones in recent months and that they've been "trying to do some new material and writing."

It was the first time since Led Zeppelin announced they would re-form for a single performance (which happened late last year at London's O2 Arena, in honor of the late Ahmet Ertegün, who signed the band to Atlantic Records in 1969) that anyone connected to the band has confirmed publicly that new music could be on the horizon for the iconic rockers. While the bandmembers have stopped short of definitively ruling out such a reunion, singer Robert Plant insisted in the wake of last year's show that he intended to focus on promoting and touring behind his critically lauded album with bluegrass artist Alison Krauss, Raising Sand.

Not that Bonham knows what — if anything — will happen with the new material he's been working on with Page (who collaborated with pop singer Leona Lewis on an uneven version of Zep's "Whole Lotta Love" at the Olympic closing ceremonies in Beijing on Sunday night) and Jones. He said he just shows up and takes his seat behind the kit.

"I've been over [to England] a couple of times," Bonham said. "I've been working with Jimmy and John Paul and trying to do ... some new material and some writing. I don't know what it will be, but it will be something. At the moment, all I know is I have the great pleasure to go and jam with the two guys and start work on some material. When I get there, I never ask any questions. If I get a phone call to go and play, I enjoy every moment of it. Whatever it ends up as, to ever get a chance to jam with two people like that, it is a phenomenal thing for me. It's my life. It's what I've dreamed about doing."

He said it's still too early to tell what will become of these "jam" sessions, but admitted that the "possibility of doing something is in the cards. I really felt it was in the cards from the moment we walked offstage at the O2." Bonham also explained that, before there could be a Led Zep LP, "lots of politics [would need to] get ironed out," but added that recording with Zep is "something I've always wanted to do."

Bonham noticeably didn't mention frontman Plant's name during the discussion. A spokesperson for Page's management had no comment on the matter, and a spokesperson for Jones' management could not be reached by press time.
